Christmas Events Perth 2019: Your Family Friendly Guide
As 2019 draws to a close, Christmas is just around the corner.
From which family member will host Christmas dinner, to what’s on the menu, you may be feeling a little under prepared. Not to mention all the Christmas presents you probably haven’t purchased yet.
With the merry season creeping up on us, we’ve compiled a family friendly Perth Christmas events guide to get you into the festive spirit.
Christmas Cruising in Mandurah
Nothing quite gets you into the Christmas spirit like a dazzling display of Christmas lights!
Check out some of WA’s best lights with a spectacular Mandurah Christmas lights cruise.
Experience the merry magic of Mandurah’s luxury canal homes. Kids will love the Christmas-themed displays and luminous lights, and you’ll love not driving around.
Expect to see:
- Christmas trees
- Blow-up Santa’s
- Snow men, reindeer and sleds
- Aussie Christmas twists like festive kangaroos and dolphins
Listen and sing along to Christmas carols and get a free photo opportunity at the ferry terminal with Santa and his elves – you could even take an ‘elfie’.
With bookings open now for this spectacular Perth Christmas event, and tours departing every night from 1st of December 2019 – 5th of January 2020, it’s time to secure your spot now.
Markets by the Sea in Hillarys
Perth Christmas events don’t have to be all about Christmas lights.
Live in Perth’s north and Mandurah is too far away for festivities? How about somewhere a little closer?
Embrace the gorgeous Australian weather this summer with a relaxed Sunday Market by the Sea. Before all the action-packed fun with the many Perth Christmas events on Christmas day, why not get your loved ones and soak up the summer sun, salty breeze.
When: 22nd December 2019
Where: Whitfords Nodes Reserve, Hillarys
The Story Behind Christmas
Christmas shouldn’t just be about the presents. Let your children experience the story behind Christmas with a nativity scene show.
Your kids will absolutely love the live animals, costumes and performance, and you’ll love that it’s a FREE summer evening Christmas event.
Details are to be confirmed but check out last year’s show for what to expect in 2019.
Christmas Lunch in the Park by Mission Australia
Christmas Lunch in the Park is one of the most fulfilling Christmas events for Perth families to get involved with.
The yearly event, hosted by Mission Australia, gives families a way to share the spirit of Christmas with people experiencing homelessness, vulnerability or disadvantage. It’s a great Christmas event for your family to get involved in, teaching you young ones the benefits of sharing, helping and giving to people less fortunate then themselves.
How your family can get involved:
- Donate a plate
- Make a donation
- Become a volunteer
When: 25th December 2019, 11:30am – 2:00pm
Where: Wellington Square, East Perth
Festive Flicks in Northbridge
Head on down to Northbridge during the silly season. No, not for an adult’s night out (but you can do that too), but for family fun at the Northbridge Piazza. Grab the kids, a picnic rug and sit back and relax whilst enjoying a holiday classic on a summer evening, in the heart of Perth.
Last year’s movies included the Polar Express, Elf and Home Alone.
Stay tuned to find out what festive favourites and Perth Christmas events are on the December 2019 calendar.
Perth Christmas Pageant
Arguably the best Christmas event on the Perth festive calendar is the annual Alinta Energy Christmas Pageant.
A family favourite since 1972, West Australians love this event and boy…is it a show. Kids will love the diverse pageant entries from local dancers, Police Pipe Band, BMX riders and many more, including Santa himself!
When: 7th December 2019, 7:30pm
Where: St George’s Terrace, Perth
Be prepared with what to bring and how to get to your favourite Perth Christmas events. Pack some snacks, water, blankets, picnic rug and chairs (check which ones are allowed) and plan your transport. Better yet, why not have a family ‘staycation’ that weekend in the Perth city to beat the rush and road blocks?
Preparing for Christmas is no small task. If you’re not yet in the Christmas spirit, planning some family festive activities are sure to get you on your merry way. With a range of free and ticketed Perth Christmas events, you’ll be singing Christmas carols in no time.
