Mother’s Day is just around the corner (Sunday 8th May – make sure you order your Mother’s Day Hamper asap!) so we thought it would be a great idea to celebrate some of the fabulous foodie mums in Western Australia and introduce you to their tasty offerings.
Latasha Menon of Latasha’s Kitchen
She has been dubbed Perth’s Queen of Spices and it’s pretty safe to say at the Just In Time Gourmet headquarters we can’t get enough of the exotic range of curry pastes, condiments, relishes, dressings, sauces and marinades that come out of Latasha’s Kitchen. These gorgeous products are handmade in small batches and avoid any preservatives, fillers and colours. Latasha specialises in regional Indian and South East Asian curry pastes and condiments plus a range of Australasian relishes and dressings alongside being a mum to her 18 year old daughter. Sophie is a mum of two and a qualified chef who has created Foragers in Pemberton with her husband, Chris. Foragers offers contemporary chalet accommodation, cooking classes and long-table set-menu seasonal dinners most Saturday nights.
She trained with and has worked alongside Maggie Beer, has been a mentor for WA’s Signature Dish, written weekly recipes for The West Australian for 13 years and has published two cookbooks: PicNic – Outdoor Feasts in the Australian Landscape in 2002 by Fremantle Press and Food of the Southern Forests in 2014 by UWA Publishing. Ellie is a mum to two little ones, has a day job as a registered nurse in Perth city and also runs A Moveable Feast Catering with her husband. Pheww! She is one busy lady but her bubbly personality oozes the ultimate passion for food!
